What does it take to connect deeply with another human being?
Most of us believe that time is proportional to the depth of connection we can have with another person – that it takes years to know a person deeply. What if minutes are all that we have with another human being? Do we allow ourselves to open our hearts up, to be vulnerable, to feel another person without holding back?
In this work, 2 strangers are given 12 minutes to gaze into each other’s eyes, uninterrupted.
There are 3 rules:
1. The pair is not allowed to break eye contact at any single point of the process.
2. The normal hearing each are given a set of noise cancelling headphone to maintain/reduce their sense of hearing.
3. The pair is not allowed to converse in that 12 minutes.
